Richard Lyons, Founder of Sunset Motorsport, has teamed up with Yacademy, to bridge the gap between drivers and teams in North America.
The partnership between Yacademy and Sunset Motorsport now expands this concept to current drivers and teams within the Road to Indy paddock.
Gustavo Yacaman owner of Yacademy commented,
“For the past three years, the Yacademy Winter Series has been successfully hosted a great amount of preseason testing catered for all the open wheel classes that North America has to offer.
By doing these kinds of organized testing, and thanks to the support of all the top teams in the sport, the Yacademy Winter Series has been able to hosts tests at some of the countries premiere facilities and make it affordable to teams and drivers to participate.
In addition to the open tests, Yacademy is always looking for ways to bring more value to teams and drivers. To do so, they have partnered with Richard Lyons from Sunset Motorsport.
Richard Lyons aims to help drivers and team find the best partnership for them. Through his many years of driving, winning both Super GT and Super Formula titles, he knows what it takes to become a professional driver.”
Richard Lyons commented,
“For years, I’ve found it next to impossible to find drives that are obtainable or in line with my own career, and if it wasn’t for my determination, it would have been easy to give up. It really is a maze, but through years of navigating, making right turns and wrong ones, I now want to make it a little easier for the next generation of deserving drivers.
Japan was a great path for me, as it was a place that really celebrated professional racing, was results driven, and allowed for career progression.
Road to Indy, although a different concept, provides drivers the same progression in a fully supported way from USF2000 to Indy Car.
I realize how expensive it is to cut your teeth in Europe and how frustrating it is… I did it. Road to Indy has got it right with the junior formulas.
But it doesn’t end there, we’ve got IMSA and World GT Challenge too. My goal is clear- to help young stars find the team that brings them to stardom.”
With that said, Yacademy Winter Series is proud to announce their 2021 Winter testing schedule:
